Everything we do, say, and feel is picked up on by children, whether they’re family or not, children observe us every day.
How we interact is what they learn about human behaviour.
Generations have been raised without a voice – “Children should be seen and not heard…” is a common phrase many people over 35 will be familiar with. “Do what I say, not what I do”, is another.
For decades mealtimes offered a place for family to gather, however they were also times when we were told not to speak with our mouth full, or to be quiet and eat our dinner or we wouldn’t get dessert.
Neil Milton grew up with those standards and is keen to empower children to ensure they have a voice. With good reason, following his own childhood experience of not being heard, he knew he had to make space for his children to feel safe and trust in those closest.
This is how The Table Talk Project was conceived. Neil is inviting us to get back to the table and connect with each other, so these important conversations can be had.
You’ll find a wealth of resources and his insightful blog on the website all FREE.
